Response to Published Article: Nursing Diagnosis

Lucy Field, M.S., C.S

School of Nursing, Boston College

Recently a response was received from a Journal reader regarding Leininger's article entitled "Issues, Questions and Concerns Related to the Nursing Diagnosis Cultural Movement From a Transcultural Nursing Perspective" (1990, 2,(1) Summer). Since we normally have not included such responses (except letters), the Editorial Board decided to include Ms. Feild's thoughtful response. We believe that such a response will expand the readers thinking about an important issue in nursing. Moreover, we believe that transcultural nursing experts can make a unique and important contribution to the nursing diagnosis movement in order to help nurses gain fresh insights and a comparative and an expanded perspective about nursing diagnoses. We have therefore, added this Response To Published Article section to achieve this goal. We appreciate Ms. Feild's thoughtful response for the Journal of Transcultural Nursing. Lucy Feild, M.S., R.N., C.S. is a doctoral student, School of Nursing, Boston College.
